Southwest Washington – Southwest Washington’s annual day of giving on Sept. 22, Give More 24!, raised $920,699 for local charities. In total, 128 organization participated in Thursday’s event.

The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington, the host and marketing power behind the day, updated the total on Tuesday to include some matching gifts that had been overlooked.

The 3,062 individual donors gave 4,425 gifts during a 24-hour period.

“We’re very impressed with the all-around effort this year,” Jennifer Rhoads, president of the Community Foundation, said in a news release. “We continue to stretch our community by setting audacious goals, and every year we’ve seen this event grow in new ways. This year was defined by creative events and fundraising campaigns.”

The vast majority of gifts came from people in Southwest Washington with nearly half coming from Vancouver. After Vancouver, the Longview/Kelso area was the most giving, then Camas/Washougal and Battle Ground/Brush Prairie. The 3,062 donors spanned 41 states and 10 countries.

Education, health and youth development were the three most supported causes.
